Budget: Ibotta, getting the money out. Yay!

Yay, it’s time to get my money out of Ibotta.  I reached $28.50 for July. $20 is the lowest you can transfer out so we are good to go. The first $10 was for joining and another 50 cents for turning in any receipt.

(Quick aside, if you want to join, go to  http://www.ibotta.com.  Click register.  Put in my referral code ‘smtiuhc”, pretty please.  I will get $5 and you will get $10.)

First, hit the “account” button on the bottom.

On the next screen,  touch “Withdraw Cash”

On the next screen, you can choose Paypal, Venmo or one of the giftcards: Best Buy, Amazon, Walmart, iTunes, Buffalo Wild Wings.  If you don’t want to link Ibotta to your Paypal or venmo, get a giftcard.

I hit Paypal since I already have it.

The next screen asks me to verify my phone number. When I type in my phone number, it sent me a text with a verification code.

I typed in the verification code.  (Don’t close out of Ibotta to get the verification code or you have to start over. Hopefully you have one of those phones that gives you a popup when you get a text)

The first time you do this, you will have to link to your Paypal account.

So after you verify, you get a new screen to link to your Paypal account.

  • Type in your name as it appears on your Paypal account.
  • Type in the email for your Paypal account.
  • Then type in the password for you Ibotta account.

This links the two.

It takes you back to the screen with Paypal, Venmo, and the giftcards listed.  But now you should see next to your Paypal, your Paypal email address.  The next time you do this, you won’t have to link the Paypal or Venmo account.

Next it asks how much you want to transfer.  I typed $28.50, the amount I had available. The minimum amount is $20.

Then it asks for your Ibotta password.

Next screen shows it is transferring to Paypal.

Finally the screen said “Funds have been transferred to your Paypal account.”

Final screen said “You’ve cashed out, Now Cash in.”

I went to Paypal to see if I received the money.  And it was there right away.  You can leave it in Paypal if you make purchases on the web or you can transfer the money to your bank.

Paypal will transfer to your bank for free.  You need to link to a bank to do this.  I don’t know about Venmo so have to check into that.  Getting the money out of Ibotta into Paypal was easy-peasy. I could’ve got a Walmart giftcard since I shop there regularly but I prefer the cash. It’s cool to earn a little extra cash for things I would buy anyways and on Ibotta, there are a wide variety of stores participating from local grocery stores to online sites.

You can use the search engine to do a search on Amazon as I did with “groceries”.
