TT Thursday : 6.4 pounds lost, second week weight loss challenge

Thunder Thighs Thursday post once again.  Into my second week, I’ve lost a total of 6.4 pounds so far.   As you know Thursdays are my post to track how I am doing in my weight loss challenge.  As most of you know, two weeks ago I joined HealthyWager, the Personalized Weight Loss Challenge, betting myself $30 a month that I would lose 65 pounds at the end of 6 months.  If I succeed, I gain more than $700.  If I lose, I lose $180 which is about a 6 month gym membership anyways.

I was going to start my diet strategy this week but got waylaid because I had to take Carol to the ER and then she was in the hospital all week. As her sister was out of town, I visited her daily although most days I only stayed for an hour or two. I also got the flu for a few days too on top of that.

Between the two, it was enough to shake me off my new routine and my walk the mall was a tad erratic this week — every other day rather than every day. The diet also fell into every other day category. And I stopped by to pick up a pizza after spending all day in the ER on Saturday. However despite the erratic week, I still managed to lose another 3.4 pounds and I am still on track on both Challenges: the HealthyWager 6 month challenge and the shorter 3-month 6% loss Slimming Challenge.  Both of my little circles are in the green.  Yay!

One of the things I wanted to start to do was monitor my nutrition.  A lot of the calorie counters monitor calorie count, fat and sugar but when you cut back, you really need to be aware of the vitamins and minerals.  I probably should take a multivitamin but I prefer to try to get my daily intake through food.  After looking at a few, I settled on Cronometer  I am currently using the free version.

It’s pretty cool.  Each day you put in what you ate and it will output your calories, carbs, lipids, proteins, vitamins and minerals.

In the add food, you put in the things you ate.  It has a lot of brand name things inputted like different kinds of salad dressings so if you’re using storebought, it makes it easy.  Or if you make things on your own, you can do the various ingredients.

So for my salad, I did a salad and then added a bit of asiago cheese.  My salad was only 15.96 calories but the walnuts added 47.82, the asiago cheese 21.68 and the vinagrette 31.84. Who knew salad dressing had double the calories of the salad?

What I also liked seeing was the nutritional values of everything.  The only problem with it is that you only get the aggregate count for the day — it doesn’t divide things by meals.

The bigger problem is remembering to input things.  It’s easy to forget if you wait a day so it’s important to do it daily.

Anyways, that’s it for my second week.

Disclosure:  I went ahead and signed up as a HealthyWage affiliate.  If you join through the links above, I’ll get a commission.  However, they also have a friends link, if you join up by clicking this friends link, it adds a $40 to your HealthyWager award if you complete your goal and $40 to my HealthyWager award if I complete my goal.  We don’t get the $40 if we fail.  I think the $40 is for HealthyWager challenges only and not the other ones like the 6% individual challenge or the team challenge. The HealthyWage affiliate link doesn’t matter if anyone succeeds but there is no benefit for the friend, just for the affiliate no matter what kind of challenge they join. I think joining through the friends link also lets you view your friend on the dashboard: you’ll see their name and what % they’ve lost so far but not the actual weight.  That’s private unless you make it public.

    1. Working on it! Easy to get distracted. I figure if I get back on the horse enough times, I’ll learn to ride, lol.

  1. You’re doing very well. Good for you. Often we don’t know what we’re eating of if it’s good or bad. You know everything about everything you eat. That’s awesome.

Have a fabulous day and weekend. ♥

    1. I’m beginning to think inputting your food is just to distract you from your stomach grumbling, lol. And it works. Blogging works pretty well too. Watching TV is a real no no because then I want to snack, lol.

Hope you’re out on the water this weekend and having a grand old time
