Sabi Saturday Week 8, X is for xenodocheionology
Sabi Saturday Linkup Week 8
So the Sabi Saturday blog hop is open for the whole week where we share. Add your link up at the bottom of the post.
- the vintage/antique items handed down or we “rescue” from garage sales and thrift stores so they don’t end up in a trash bin
- items we’ve upcycled instead of throwing them away
- items we’ve repaired in a transformative way to make them more beautiful or cooler than before
- process or tutorials on how we upcycled or repaired something to make something new, more beautiful, or cooler
- the main idea is showing how we treasure or reuse or creatively transform things that have some history to them, may be a bit worn but nevertheless are still useful/beautiful and often have character.
Sabi Saturday Linkup Week 7 Roundup
First the roundup:
15 and Meowing shared a skunk stuffed animal she was given a child. Her cat is not amused, lol.
Cactus Catz shared some things she rescued from California thrift stores from the perfect size carry-on to a autographed Top Chef The Cookbook.
This week’s Sabi Saturday contribution
Today I’m sharing two things that are very different from each other.
Jhoanna creates coffee briquets
When people follow me, I always check out their blog so when Jhoanna Mae of stepdaily started following me, I did just that. She’s a new blogger with just a few posts but there was this really cool one called Day 4: Create. She and a friend mixed sawdust and used coffee grounds to make briquets — you know charcoal? She said it smelled really good. I’d love to have some barbeque beef roasted over them. They even made a you-tube video. Cool idea, right? to recycle coffee grounds.
X is for xenodocheionology
I know you are wondering what the heck xenodocheionology is and how to pronounce it. It means the lore of inns and hotels. Nowaday, I would assume that would include motels too. Good luck on pronouncing xenodocheionology .
My friend Tammy is very into vintage neon signs (she has a blog on it) so we went to Casa Grande to see their new Vintage Neon Signs Park which included some historic motel neons from Highway 84.

Those neon signs are cool, Mary. I learned a new word today!!! Thanks!!!
Now if only there were a place to use that word. It’s so crazy long, it reminds me of the song Super-cali-fragil-istic in Mary Poppins, lol
Great word for the day!

I love those neon signs. They remind me of years past when the signs were more common, and artistic!
Yep, definitely a new word to me too so I’ve definitely learned something today!
Hope you’re having a lovely weekend 🙂

Oh My Catness! That xaxbo, zendo, um, yeah that, it something Dad would enjoy. He used to travel across the country by motorcycle and mainly camped out but many times would stay in small towns with nice little hotels. Many were from a past age and he really liked that. There used to be the Penn-Wells Hotel in Wellsboro PA and the bathrooms were all old time and the rooms were all paneled with wood. It was marvelous. Thanks for a lesson and we will stop by again
Those signs really are very special!
Those are cool signs. Thanks for hosting. Have a great day!
