W is for Winsome Trickster

W is for Winsome Trickster

Trickster is my friend Tammy’s cat. She adopted Trickster and his sibling Sapphire even though they had leukemia. She knew they would likely pass early but wanted to give them a good home in whatever time they had left.

I got to meet Trickster. He was super friendly, winsome and very special.  Trickster was very affectionate and came running to the door whenever my friend came home. When I came to visit, he immediately investigated me and decided we could be friends. Hissibling had already passed.

The end did come last week and Trickster never grew to be an adult.  However he and his  sister were very happy in their loving home in the short time they had.

It takes courage to adopt a cat with health issues especially if you go in knowing their time is limited.  And there is no denying the pain when they go on to Summerland.  However giving them a gift of a home in the time that they do have is a great gift.  And for those of you who have the courage to give that gift, you command my respect.  I think what you’re doing is wonderful.

  1. A heartwarming story. Thanks for sharing 🙂 It is difficult having a pet with health issues: you never know when something might fail.

  2. That is sad that they have gone to the Bridge but they were given a chance to have love and a home. That is truly the most wonderful gift and it comes from deep in the heart. We give your friends Mom big purrs.

  3. Dropped in from the A to Z challenge to say hi.
I had a cat, Siamese, who’s name was also Pinky. She was a very loving cat and loved sitting on my lap and would climb onto my lap whenever she got a chance. She had eventually to be put down because she lost all control of her back legs. Her passing was very very traumatic. Sad memories for me.

please let Tammy know that even people in Africa were saddened by Trickster’s passing.
Blessings from Geoff in South Africa.

    1. I am very sorry about your Pinky passing. It’s hard to lose a cat and her passing sounded particularly harsh. I will tell Tammy. It is very kind of you to express your sympathy to pass onto her.

  4. It’s good to hear that there are people who will willingly take on such a responsibility.

  5. That’s such a compassionate thing for Tammy to do, to adopt Tricker & his sib even though he was so poorly, and it’s heartbreaking they both passed away. I completely agree, it’s a wonderful gift to have given them a home and love. xx
