It is a great place to visit! I can’t believe I never visited it before. Traveling, I would have been there within a couple of days upon arrival. Living here, it took 40 years, lol.
I hadn’t thought about them being in Philippines too but that totally makes sense. Probably the first Asians to immigrate to America were Filipinos jumping off Spanish ships to escape when they hit America. Probably the first record is 1587, when a “Luzon Indian ” (Filipino) was killed by an California Native American at Morro Bay when a small party from Spanish galleon Nuestra Senora de Esperanzo came ashore and claimed the land in the name of Spain, naming it “Puerto San Lucas.” The locales weren’t too happy with that and attacked them. One person was killed. The ship went southward after that.
I think they are beautiful too. It’s funny but I visited a few in California, long before I visited the one in my own backyard — this Wednesday for the first time. Wordless Wednesday is great, it pushes me to explore Tucson as if I was a tourist so I’m finding a lot of cool stuff here.

California has some awesome ones. I’ve been to a few there — decades before I went to the one in my backyard, lol.

People seem to always take for granted the things in their own backyard. I am one of them!
